One year we went to Bavaria for our annual camp. We were tasked with crossing a wide, fast flowing river. My Squadron Commander, Major Graham Neil, expressly told me not to undertake the crossing until he was present. I replied that we would be fine crossing without him but to my annoyance he insisted. This hacked me off but soldiers are taught obedience so I said that I would do as instructed and asked him at what time he would join us. At one minute past his deadline we crossed the river without him. The attached picture was taken by the last man to cross, was framed and presented to him at the Drums Dinner.
