FLUTE TECHNIQUE Page 2
This scale has two flats. The flat signs are written on the stave in a regular pattern, which differs to that of the sharp key signatures.
The title of this scale and that of the previous scale has a flat sign, i.e., B flat major and E flat major. These titles come about by virtue of the fact that the starting note of each of these scales are flat. This distinction is important since there are other scales starting on B and E.
There are in all, fifteen major keys, i.e., C major - 7 sharp and 7 flat keys. Only the natural scale, three sharp and three flat. have been illustrated using fingering charts. The novice should study the full chromatic range of the instrument, given here, in order to master the instrument fully.
